Frangokastelo of Paroikia

Frangokastelo was the first settlement (4th millennium BC) of the island. It was built in the 13th century by the Venetian Duke of Naxos and it was made with parts of three archaic and two classical temples. A Cycladic settlement was discovered next to the castle. In the interior you will find chapels such as Panagia tou Stavrou (1514), Ayia Anna, Ayios Markos, Ayios Stylianos and the astonishing temple of Ayios Konstantinos with a covered courtyard.
